Mr. Philips is a Member of the Government Contracting & Technology Group in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia. He provides accounting, business advisory, and tax-planning services to government contractors and also leads the firm’s practice in accounting for airline fuel consortia at major airports throughout the United States. Mr. Philips has a vast range of expertise in complex accounting matters, development of indirect cost rates, and financial management for government contractors. He conducts quality control reviews of audits and reviews for a number of firm engagements as well as provides assistance to other engagement teams on complex accounting matters. Mr. Philips is also instrumental in management of the firm’s internal training programs and technology. In addition he is involved with the Government Contracting lunch & learn series of educational seminars which provide CPE credits to clients, prospects and business alliances.
Mr. Philips is qualified to perform audits under generally accepted government audit standards (yellow book) and has experience in many industries, including franchised restaurant operations, professional service firms, pension plans, manufacturing and healthcare. He served as the project manager of a large multi-year project that the firm performed for the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) in the early 1990s. This project culminated in the successful sale of approximately $250 million of assets of several RTC subsidiaries comprising one of the largest mortgage banking enterprises in the United States. He has also provided forensic accounting and expert witness testimonies for clients.
