Mr. Ragone joined Watkins Meegan LLC in 2011 as a Senior Manager in the Construction Group. He has over 20 years of auditing, accounting, tax, and consulting experience, with specific expertise in auditing and accounting for clients in the construction, manufacturing, and technology industries.  Mr. Ragone has extensive knowledge in dealing with the financial reporting aspects of purchase accounting from the seller's and the buyer's perspective, as well as providing accounting and tax services to companies with various tax structures (Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Corporations, and Limited Liability Partnerships).  In addition, Mr. Ragone has extensive expertise in auditing employee benefit plans, including Defined Contribution Plans, Defined Benefit Plans, Government Pension Plans, and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs).

 

As a Senior Manager in the Construction Group, Mr. Ragone is responsible for managing attestation, tax, and consulting services for clients in the construction industry, including general contractors, subcontractors, and individuals with ownership interests in the construction industry.  Mr. Ragone also has experience as a National and Local Office Instructor at one of the Big 4 public accounting firms instructing various levels of the professional staff, as well as for finance and accounting personnel of various clients and professional associations, on such topics as Accounting for Business Combinations, Revenue Recognition, and Accounting Standards Updates.  He will be instrumental in developing and teaching internal training for the professional staff at Watkins Meegan, as well as for external groups and individuals seeking to maintain their CPA certification or to keep up with current accounting and auditing standards impacting their businesses in this ever changing financial reporting landscape.

 

While Mr. Ragone has spent almost his entire career in public accounting, he also served as a controller in a family-owned start-up manufacturing business.  He was instrumental in implementing the accounting and inventory costing system, as well as training and supervising accounting staff on the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and inventory costing system, preparing the monthly and annual financial statements, preparing budgets and forecasts, and performing time and motion studies to develop cost rates for inventory costing purposes.

 

Education, Memberships, & Recognition

Mr. Ragone is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (cum laude) with a double major in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Economics.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA).
