Rick Westerman Appointed to the AICPA Relations with the Bar Committee

Abstract:

Rick Westerman has been selected for a three-year appointment to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Relations with the Bar Committee. This committee participates in the National Conference of Lawyers and Certified Public Accountants and is the official liaison between the American Bar Association and the AICPA. The committee consists of nine members of each profession appointed the by Presidents of the respective organizations and it meets twice annually.

 

Its purpose is to foster excellence of professional performance in the public interest by providing a forum for indentifying, discussing and proposing recommendations for the resolution of public issues of professional concern between the two professions. Current topics being considered include impacts on attorney-client privilege and work doctrine brought on by accounting rules related to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes as well as contingencies.

The AICPA Relations with the Bar Committee serves as the official liaison between the American Bar Association and the AICPA.
