Mary Lou Gervie, CPA, CFE, CFF, Director and Leader of Watkins Meegan’s Forensic Accounting and Dispute Services Group, has been appointed to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) IRS Practice & Procedures Committee. The Committee’s objectives include maintaining ongoing communications with the IRS, the CPA practitioner community, and state CPA societies on matters affecting the federal tax system, and monitoring administrative, legislative, and regulatory developments. The Committee is also charged with working with the IRS to ensure that its organization efforts are responsive to AICPA members’ needs.

With more than 25 years of experience in the accounting industry, including four years as a Revenue Agent with the IRS, Mary Lou is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Financial Forensic and an approved investigator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Since joining Watkins Meegan in 1987, she has provided technical assistance and oversight for commercial tax matters including research, planning, and compliance.

The AICPA IRS Practice & Procedures Committee maintains communication with the IRS on matters affecting the federal tax system.

As a leader in the firm’s forensic accounting group, she is involved with criminal tax matters, financial analysis, and income reconstruction, as well as partnership dissolution and divorce issues, among others. Mary Lou also has significant experience conducting forensic accounting investigations for director and officer liability and white-collar crime cases and formulating calculations for criminal and civil income tax issues and domestic disputes.
