Louise Peabody Wins Women in Technology Award 

 

Watkins Meegan Member Louise M. Peabody, CPA, received the Founder’s Award during the Women in Technology (WIT) 10th Annual Leadership Awards on May 21, 2009. WIT President Sue Liblong selected Louise for the WIT Founder’s Award, which is awarded to a current member who has exemplified the WIT values in her work with the organization and her professional career.

 

"Each year WIT presents the Leadership Awards to an exceptional list of extraordinary women and this year proved to be no different," said Liblong. "The awardees are pioneers in their organizations and in the local technology community and embody this year’s theme 'Changing the Face of Technology.' We are honored to include them among a decade of WIT’s leading women.”

Louise has been a member of WIT for more than five years and she has held a variety of leadership positions within the organization. She previously served as Treasurer and Board member, chair of the Women Business Owners Special Interest Group, and chair and vice-chair of the Nominating Committee. She currently is a Board member and Treasurer of the Women in Technology Education Foundation. She was previously nominated for the WIT Champion award.

 

Louise joined Watkins Meegan in 1995 as part of its Government Contracting & Technology Group, and she has been a Member in the firm’s Tysons Corner office since 1999. She currently oversees the firm’s Risk Services Group focusing on internal audit, corporate governance, Sarbanes-Oxley and OMB A-123 compliance.

 

In addition to her active involvement in WIT, Louise is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors. She also served for five years on the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Ethics Committee. Additionally Louise teaches seminars on risk management, employee benefit plans and pension plan compliance, and she contributes to the firm’s newsletters.
